- Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, and third string quarterback Ken Dorsey all suffer injuries leaving Bruce Gradkowski as the quarterback for the final regular season game against the Steelers
- The Browns do not score an offensive touchdown the last six games of the season
- Offensive tackle Joe Thomas and defensive tackle Shaun Rogers (whom the Browns acquired in February from Detroit for cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third round draft pick) make the Pro Bowl
- Josh Cribbs returns a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown in a 37-27 loss to the Baltimore Ravens
- Brandon McDonald intercepts a Donovan McNabb pass and returns it 98 yards before being tackled by Ryan Westbrook short of the goal line
- Kicker Phil Dawson breaks Matt Stover's 1995 team record of 29 field goals made by kicking 30 field goals
- Jamal Lewis rushes for 1,094 yards becoming the first Browns running back to have two consecutive seasons of 1,000 yards rushing since Mike Pruitt did it 27 years ago in 1981
- One of the Browns four victories comes on a Monday Night Game in Cleveland when they beat the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants 35-14. Eric Wright intercepts an Eli Manning pass and returns it 94 yards for a touchdown
- On December 29, 2008 the Browns fire head coach Romeo Crennel
